Ridley Scott to revisit Alien?!

"There’s been some talk. Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he’s toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it’s always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I’ve got my fingers crossed, all of them.”

Just wishful thinking on the part of Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman, but intriguing nonetheless. Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver have both expressed interest in a new film: according to Scott, if made it will focus on the "space jockey" creatures found in the spacecraft on LV-426.

Rothman went on to discuss the Predators franchise of which he now has total control with Robert Rodriguez producing. Let’s hope that if there’s a new Alien film, the Predators won’t try to jump into it.

EDITOR'S NOTE: James Cameron recently came out with an anecdote about how he came to this SAME Fox executive's office with an idea for Alien 5, and Rothman said, "Well, we've got this really good script for Alien vs. Predator..." Proof that this guy has no idea what he's talking about and is not to be trusted.

I returned the favor, and added this blog to my blogroll.

Alien II wasn't very good. How would a third fare?

Errol Flynn was the best Robin Hood.

Aliens (Alien 2) was probably one of the best sequels ever made. It transformed Ripley from victim to aggressor and added a maternal element in the form of Newt. The struggle between Ripley and the Alien Queen is an example of two perfect counterparts competing for the same goal: survival of not only themselves, but also their children.
It has a 100% rating on RottenTomatoes.com, are we talking about the same movie?
By the way, there have actually been 4 Alien films: Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection followed the first two. I actually enjoyed Alien 3, not nearly as much as the first two, but it was entertaining and had a cool new creature design in the form of the dog-alien. Alien Resurrection had only three great points: Joss Whedon's script, Winona Rider, and Sigourney Weaver making a half court basketball shot with her back turned. Other than that, it was terrible.
Completely agree about Errol Flynn, his Robin Hood is one of my favorite films. Still think Ridley could make it great, he's had a few clunkers in recent memory but nothing brain-meltingly bad.
Thanks for the link by the way, I've been trying to promote myself all over the web.
